Dear Friends:

We’re thrilled to announce ThinkFest 2019, a convening of Bermudian academics and independent thinkers of all disciplines from around the island and around the world.

This exciting seminar series, designed to inform, provoke debate and celebrate our thought leaders, takes place at various venues in Bermuda in August and September next year.

Our inaugural ThinkFest, in 2017, was a tremendous success and we hope you’ll take part – or pass this on to someone who might be interested in joining the ranks of ThinkFest presenters.

The series format will be a 30 – 45-minute presentation, 10-minute interview and then an audience Q&A.

Presentations will be videotaped for online and television broadcast. The topic is at your discretion and does not have to be about Bermuda, but we ask that it be relatively recent research or a new approach to previous research.

ThinkFest is our flagship event and the entry period is now open for 2019.

ThinkFest 2017, attracted about 15 applications, from which we selected a cohort of 10 presenters.

Hundreds of Bermuda residents attended ThinkFest in 2017 engaging with material as diverse as genetics and the cure for cancer, climate change and the dilemmas of language and education in post-colonial Ghana.

Thousands more were exposed to the presenters through ThinkMedia’s tailor made marketing and PR campaign in advance of the series.

ThinkFest is a one-of-a-kind festival – at once a celebration of local talent and excellence, and a networking event.

ThinkFest 2019 is an opportunity for presenters to:

• Build their speaking and professional portfolio
• Network with others – including potential employers, funders and other independent thinkers and academics
• Engage in a collaborative learning experience
• Build and expand a public profile
• Share knowledge and expertise

For ThinkFest 2019, we plan to have an even more diverse slate of presenters and disciplines represented, as well as introduce an Audience Award.

Here’s the entry form, the rules, and an FAQ page. Applications are due by March 31, 2019.
